After doing a deep dive on the internets regarding their purported health benefits, I started adding flax seeds to my overnight oats quite some time ago. Was informed by a colleague that their "true" benefits are greatest when 1) the seeds are fresh, but also 2) when they're GROUND. I tried a hand grinder (like a small peppermill), but after 50 turns or so I still had most of a Tbsp. of whole seeds…too rough on my wrists for daily use. Gave this little unit a try, and it's perfect. In under 5 seconds, my morning "dose" is reduced to a fine powder. I'm not concerned about cleaning the unit, b/c I only intend to use it for this one thing. It's small, it's efficient, and it's exactly what I needed.
This small grinder did a great job grinding dried herbs. No more hard stems from rosemary in my meals! It is quick and easy to use and to clean. The price is right and so is the size.
I bought this grinder for a singular purpose of grind one thing. However I decided to try it out first on an assortment of hard spices to test the strength and grinding fineness of the motor/blades. Well after trying out on peppercorns, hazelnuts and cinnamon...color me impressed. The motor feels quite powerful for the size of the unit and the blades eventually catch all of the particles over the course of about 30-40 secs and some pulsing to grind all of the aforementioned things above into dust. (see pics of the ground peppercorns and pic showing them on top of store bought ground black pepper)Also something that impressed me was when. I purchased this item several months ago, there was only the description of the grinder being in the box, but upon opening the box I was pleasantly surprised to see that the order also included a spoon and brush combo as well as a pollen sifter w/ two pollen scrapers. The pollen sifter will work great if you grind specific herbs that you would like to keep the finest of the dust to coat something in. Perhaps...I don't know, whats that stuff all the cool kids are into now? Sun Stones? Lunar Sediment? I can't remember. But anyway, I guess that's the good of the product. So why only 4 stars? Okay, this is what perplexed me, the cup is not removable at all. Technically you could unscrew it but that would be more trouble than what its worth. So you must clean the the cup out with a wet cloth or sponge. Remember the brush they provided? Well, although I appreciate the gesture the brush doesn't do a great job of removing all the sediment and fine dust from the cup. As a matter of fact the heat produced from the grinding process causes the ground product to adhere quite strongly to the sides of the cup. The brush simply isn't designed to handle that. So if you are grinding "heat sensitive" things, keep in mind your going to want to have a more appropriate tool to properly collect all your grinding.Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, be VERY careful when washing the lid. There is a small, thin plastic tab (see pic) that serves as the activator for the grinder. If you break this tab as I have no doubt that someone has, then you are up the fabled fecal creek without a paddle. But, you will have a brand new paperweight, so there's that. It takes VERY little pressure to activate the grinder once you put the lid on. You will most likely still be "trying to put the lid on" when it suddenly whirs to life. All in all...I'm pleased with this product. Its not perfect by any means but good enough.
(Don’t use this for coffee beans, it’s not meant for it and your grounds will be too fine)It works great for dry herbs, spices, and related items. It can reduce to a very fine powder, which is exactly what I was looking for. If you don’t want it to be super fine, don’t blend for as long.It comes with helpful cleaning tools with the little brush and all that which has been nice. Easy to clean over all, but the metal receptacle doesn’t detach so there are somewhat limited options on it.Also, make sure to apply even pressure across the cap when blending or some finer particles may leak out around the sides. Probably the only operational complaint (besides getting very hot after running for several seconds straight)Over all I am very happy with this product and would recommend.
Works very well
This product works perfectly for grinding flack seeds used for a topping. There are many uses and the grain size depends on the amount of time you operate the grinder. A little difficult to clean however, it works very well!
It works great. Love the compact design. Why are there two screws on the inside? All the powder from whenever you're grinding gets stuck in the crevices, and you can't get it out, even with the brush. I'm returning it.
This makes life super easy, grinds to a dust, powerful motor
This is the 3rd herb grinder I’ve bought. The other 2 didn’t grind dried herbs into powder, just chopped them a bit. This one does grind them quickly into powder! If the cup came out of the grinder to wash I would’ve rated 5 stars. But considering the other 2 grinders did come apart to clean but didn’t grind well; this was a better choice!
Just what the doctor ordered! Lol, works well straight out the box & lives up to promises. It has to be plugged in during the grind (no charge & go) but the price and quality I have no complaints. Little brush to clean with too.
